The grove of more than 600 olive trees in York thrive in a Mediterranean climate about 300m above sea level. Talbot Grove's three varieties, Frantoio, Manzanilla and Nevadillo, are grown pesticide free, with sheep grazing the grove.
Talbot Grove produces varietal oils, as each olive variety has its own distinct characteristics:
- Frantoio has a pleasant peppery taste and is ideal for pasta, marinades, seafood and meat dishes.
- Manzanilla is fruity, with a peppery aftertaste. Perfect for salads.
- Nevadillo has a wonderful aroma and a balanced complexity of flavours. It is our highest prize-winning oil.
Talbot Grove has won numerous awards, including gold medals at the Perth Royal Show in 2010, 2014 and 2015, and was ranked among the 20 best oils by the Italian guide “FLOS OLEI” in 2011, which samples more than 1000 oils from all over the world every year.
