Hopefully, you are already familiar with most of our newest members, but we’d love to take the time to formally introduce them so you can continue showing support for all things local.
Bravo Gazpacho may have its roots in Spain but it’s 100 percent Western Australian. This tasty spin on the traditional tomato-based soup is made in Geraldton, with fresh, raw vegetables forming the basis of a super healthy and delicious ‘super drink’. Olé!
Down in the Great Southern, Denmark Heritage Apples have been delighting locals for years with their luscious and hard-to-find varieties. The family-owned orchard lets nature work its magic, with all fruit ripening on the tree before being handpicked, graded and packed for your enjoyment.
The beekeepers behind Elixir Honey also ensure you get what nature intended, leaving their bees to create the nectar of the gods in pristine native bush and wild forests. The resulting raw honey may vary with the season and region but the superior taste and health benefits do not.
The secret to the rich, buttery taste of Margaret River Wagyu Beef lies in its origins. Cattle derived from the Tajima bloodline of Japanese black wagyu are raised in the fertile South West, where reliable rainfall and a moderate climate help to ensure the unique flavour, marbling and texture. No wonder it’s so popular with chefs.
Masters Milk celebrates its 100th anniversary next year, a pretty impressive milestone in anyone’s book. Whether you favour full cream or skim milk, iced coffee or chocolate – or many other variations in between – chances are you’re already a fan of this local dairy producer.
McNamara Honey Company has been around even longer. The oldest apiarist in Western Australia has been buzzing in the Wheatbelt for more than 120 years, with the McNamara family continuing to deliver on their promise of premium, affordable honey.
Up in the Perth Hills, Franklin & Clement take a hands-on approach to production with extra love and care – not to mention fresh local produce – going into their small batch preserves. Their flagship Jammed Chilli is the perfect condiment for any meal, from cheese platters to steak sandwiches. You can even use it to make a chilli mayo.
Inspired by her grandmother’s farmhouse creations, Urban Forager’s Lou Corteen also makes marvellous preserves and chutneys from local produce, such as jam from Donnybrook plums and chutney from Carnarvon mangoes. Through the Natural Stock Co, the team also creates every home cook’s friend – a range of stock concentrates made from 100 percent natural ingredients. They even keep for up to a year in the fridge once opened.
This year, we also welcomed two new members from the hospitality sector. Heyder & Shears have been part of the local event landscape for almost 40 years for good reason. Their reputation for excellence has made them the caterers of choice for many big events, including the annual Shore Leave Festival.
Miss Mi Perth, on the other hand, is a relative newcomer but the city restaurant has already won a legion of fans for its fabulous culinary journey through Asia, not to mention the wicked range of cocktails and non-alcoholic options.
We rounded out 2024 by welcoming The a2 Milk Company to the fold. Founded in New Zealand to create dairy for good, their milk comes from cows chosen because they naturally produce the A2-type protein. Of course, all the milk the company sells in Western Australia is produced right here.
We hope you will join us in supporting all our members now and into the future. Just look for the distinctive bitemark logo wherever you shop or eat out.
